Magic in Togugia

After the Dragon Wars took place over 200 years ago, the general opinion of magic and arcane magic users as only fallen in the eyes of the public. While those involved in the conflict knew the intricacies of the struggle and the drastic difference in goals between the good and evil forces in these wars, the peasantry viewed this simply as war among mages that quickly got out of hand.

Over time as political leaders took advantage of this emerging public opinion and other peasants banned together to enact their own form of vigilante justice, many spell casters were executed across the glob for practicing their arts and spellcasting quickly became an illegal activity in many kingdoms.

Despite a few small pockets of tolerance towards magic, most notably in the metropolis of Dun-di City, spell components and spell casting services remain difficult to find, costly, and risky to use.
